Chapter Thirty-Three

Juliette

"Welcome," a saleswoman chirps. "Can I help you with anything?" Her gaze shifts to me and Griff.

To his shoulders, lips, eyes.

She smiles.

Then she spots his left hand, and her lips curl into a frown.

She's a pro—much better than I was the summers I worked at Forever 21. She turns her frown upside down in three seconds flat.

"Yeah." Griff pulls me closer. "My wife is looking for something to wear tonight."

"Do you have something in mind?" she asks.

He nods. "Something nice. We're celebrating."

"Oh?" she asks.

"Yeah, we got married last night." He beams the way he did when I made varsity softball.

More even.

And there's no oh God, Jules, are you going to do anything but practice, read, and listen to that horrible music? You're never going to find a boyfriend like this.

She crosses the room to us, motions follow me, leads us through a dozen displays of panties, mannequins adorned in pastel bras, rows and rows of satin thongs.

Straight to the fancy lingerie. Teddies, one-pieces, baby dolls, stuff with names I've never heard before.

All in white.

This is the bridal section.

"It might be a little late, but it should do the trick." She smiles enjoy and takes her leave.

I pick up a sheer one-piece casually. Like I'm not thinking about how quickly I can get to the dressing room to suck off my husband.

Fuck, is this really so expensive? I thought this store was more in my price range.

My gaze shifts to the saleswoman at the counter. A man perusing black lingerie. Two friends comparing cotton panties.

They're so casual.

We're so obvious.

Can I really do this?

Can I really meet my husband in an empty dressing room and suck him off?

My sex clenches. I want to. I really do. But without the liquid courage, an illicit rendezvous is as scary as it is exciting.

Griff's fingers curl into my side. My crop top. Then my stomach. "She's so into us."

"You think everyone is into you."

"Me, yeah." His lip brushes my ear. "But she's into us."

"What does that mean?"

"She wants to watch."

"You think everyone wants to watch." I try to make my voice even, but I'm not there. My body is buzzing. My heart is pounding. My stomach is fluttering.

The risk is a thrill.

But it's terrifying.

I press my eyelids together. Soak in the warmth of his body. The soft brush of his lips. The rough scrape of his teeth.

I want this.

His body and mine and nothing else.

That makes sense.

With Jackson, it never made sense.

But with Griff?

I want to drag him to my bedroom and have my way with him. All day. All night. Forever.

But that means—

Okay, I'm not going there. Not now.

I'm going all in tonight. Telling him while he has a chance to fold.

Or, um… I should have paid more attention during Inked Hearts poker games. The rules are fuzzy. And it's so damn appropriate using gambling metaphors, what with our current location.

"Baby, you're going off somewhere." He presses a long, hard kiss to my neck then he steps backward. "You keep doing that."

"I always do that," I say.
